Tom Clancy’s The Division™ for PC | Origin – The Division
The agent finds footage of Keener and his fellow rogue agents abandoning the LMB, with Tchernenko as their prisoner. The leader of the LMB, Charles Bliss, initially escapes in a helicopter, but then returns to make a final stand alongside his men. In the end, the agent destroys the vehicle, killing Bliss.
Lau informs the agent that most threats are destroyed or weakened, however the LMB was split into factions. New York is approaching stability, but an unknown signal leads the agent to a secluded laboratory. There, they find Dr. Amherst’s remains, having discovered that he has died from exposure to his own virus. In the message, Amherst reveals he engineered Green Poison as part of his eco-terrorist plan to decimate the human race and preserve the planet.
If the player follows Keener’s instructions, they will discover a message from Keener claiming that he plans to continue with Amherst’s plot, as he has come to worship the virus as the judge of all humanity and plans to reverse engineer and improve it; he then offers the player a position beside him based on their actions in the Dark Zone.
Tom Clancy’s The Division was originally being developed as an eighth generation consoles exclusive. The new intellectual property and tech has been in development for several years although development on the actual game began in early During E3 , the game was officially announced, with a trailer explaining the results of Operation Dark Winter and the purpose of Directive During the Expo, Ubisoft announced a companion app that allows players to play the game on tablets.
Players are able to join in the game as a drone to offer tactical support for players playing on PC and consoles. On 15 May , it was announced that The Division would be delayed until , according to an anonymous source inside Massive Entertainment studio. During E3 , the game’s final release date and a player versus player area known as the Dark Zone were revealed. On 31 January , Ubisoft announced that they had extended the beta, and that it would end on 2 February On 27 February , Ubisoft confirmed that there would be no microtransactions at launch.
The Division was released on 8 March , two years after its initially planned release. The game is supported by additional content, such as daily and weekly missions, Dark Zone missions and free updates, after the game’s launch. The game was announced to be supported by 3 paid expansions. In June, Underground , which includes missions set in tunnels and subways, was released. It was reported that it would be followed by Survival , which adds the Survival game mode.
Last Stand was set to be released in the last quarter of the year. Survival and Last Stand were delayed to late and early , respectively, so that Ubisoft could focus its effort on fixing the core game’s issues, such as balancing and bugs. Ubisoft in March revealed plans for a second year of additional content with two free expansions. The update added “Global Events”, limited-time events with gameplay modifiers that give special rewards. It also adds the ability to customize a character’s face, cosmetic items as well as “Commendations” which replaces “Feats”.
Update 1. It adds a new area called West Side Pier as well as two new games modes called Resistance and Skirmish. In Resistance, the player has to fend off waves of enemies. Skirmish is a multiplayer mode where teams of four players have to achieve the highest kill-count. Tom Clancy’s The Division received “generally favourable” reviews according to review aggregator, Metacritic. Ars Technica drew comparisons between The Division and Destiny , a first-person shooter game with similar overall mechanics regarding items, crafting, and “shared world” elements.
The game was also compared to “modern” massively multiplayer online role-playing games MMORPG , explaining that “structurally, it all feels like it could have been ripped from Guild Wars 2 or a latter-day World of Warcraft , ” including “that old MMO staple of being stuck in a server queue before diving into a game” on-launch, in combination with the “quintessential Ubisoft design style” of varying types of collectible and upgrade systems.
The Division was criticized for lacking variety in its activities and missions, explaining that it “does little to break from or advance what is fast becoming the general form of the “loot shooter” genre.
In fact, it takes very few risks at all, particularly with its enemies and encounter design. Vince Ingenito of IGN was more critical of The Division , outlining that “next to every good thing The Division does, there hangs a big, ugly asterisk”.
The overall atmosphere was panned for being “barren and unengaging” overall; as examples, Ingenito focused upon the lack of dynamic events in the game world, that there were “long stretches of eventless walking where very little happens” due to the lack of events and encounters, the lack of variety in missions and activities, and that the grid layout of Manhattan made navigation and exploration “tedious”.
The gun mechanics of The Division were described as being “standard” and more in line with the more realistic feel of other Tom Clancy -branded games, with guns that had distinct feels due to their varying statistics, and that “the fact that the action leans so heavily on smart tactics makes it rewarding when the last foe in a pack finally goes down.
The progression system was also criticized for being “fractured”, requiring that players visit multiple locations with different systems in order to upgrade their abilities, explaining that “[it’s] hard to accurately gauge just how strong you really are, and as a result, easy to get in over your head in a mission that your character level indicates you can handle.
In conclusion, Ingenito felt that the game’s ideas and mechanics were “not spread evenly or interwoven cleanly enough to form a cohesive, consistently enjoyable loop”. Prior to version 1. This allowed players to collect the named enemies’ superior and high-end loot over and over again. The most popular target of this exploit was a character known as the Bullet King, as this character was the named enemy closest to any player spawn point in the game.
An exotic weapon the highest quality weapon , an LMG whose ability allows its user to never reload while firing, was named after the character in The Division 2. According to Ubisoft, the game broke company records, including highest number of first-day sales breaking the record previously set by Watch Dogs in , and becoming the company’s best-selling game. The game’s launch marked the biggest video game debut in the first quarter of the year in the U. It was the third biggest launch of a Ubisoft game in the U.
In June , it was announced that a live action feature film adaption of The Division is in development. In January , Stephen Gaghan was attached to direct, though he left the project in In April , David Leitch signed on as director. In June during Ubisoft ‘s E3 presentation, the company announced that Rafe Judkins serves as screenwriter. Netflix purchased the distribution rights to the film, and will exclusively release the feature through its streaming service.
On 9 March , a sequel to the game, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 , was announced, that was currently being worked on by Massive Entertainment. You get gunned down at the exit door with no med kits and no ammo and no special abilities. You’re beaten down like a whipped dog. Worn down by their relentless, irritating, unrealistic pursuit. Why do they pursue you?
And guess what? That half hour you spent trying to escape them? Guess what it got you? De-leveled again and lost even more money. Guess what again? The game spawns you at the nearest Safe House. You still have to run 10 blocks through enemies just to exit the DZ hahahaha. How cruel. How sickly cruel. And you will have to keep running and dying like this until you finally get out successfully or you will be trapped in the DZ literally forever.
So then you finally leave and a week later after foolishly forgetting how ridiculously overpowering the enemies are, you come back with epic gear and die again like a dog. So, now you’re mad. You get your buddies to buy the game. You make yourself a great team of 4 people. Yeah now we’re talking, those elite enemies are melting like butter now. Look at all of that great gear they drop when they actually die! Oh man! This is great! At least until a hacker or exploiter comes and kills your entire team with one grenade that does 20,, damage LITERALLY , steals all of your teams’ gear and money.
Ok maybe it’s just one jerk in thousands being a loser. Let’s not get too discouraged because we were on a roll! We can do this! Then you repeat, you spend 2 hours killing special named enemies for drops and finally you and your team call in a helicopter to extract all the great contaminated loot you found in the DZ in order to permanently keep it all gear must be extracted to actually keep it all.
The helicopter takes 90 seconds to come. Alright, here comes the swarms of baddies to try to thwart your success! As you’re killing all of the baddies down drops a rope to hang all your loot on to extract and then BANG.
Ok, get the picture? Don’t go into the freaking dark zone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The hackers are every where. I can’t emphasize this enough. This rant above is a real experience. There is NO exaggeration in here. This is a real, actual Dark Zone grinding experience. I can get headshots all day long without missing but the RPG elements in this game negate actual skill in many instances.
In Call of Duty a headshot is difficult yet rewarding as it offers an instant kill like in real life. In this game you can dump bullets into an enemy’s face and the guy will still be no where near death. While the enemies are no where near as bad as ones in Destiny, this is the major annoyance as Tom Clancey games have always at least attempted some modicum of realistic combat. Well kiss that goodbye in this game. This game is much more like Borderlands and Destiny than it is like any shooter you’ve likely ever played.
Overall I love this game. Just stay the hell out of the Dark Zone for heaven’s sake! I wasn’t even interested in this game on release, but I bought it when it was on sale. I didn’t even install it until some months later. Now that I have some hours into this game 50 hours now I can say that this is a really good change from other games I have played.
This game challenges you to improve your skills, learn equipment, and most of all I’m strictly a single player, not into the MMO or online game play and even so, a good game to spend some time in. The learning or training period at the start requires you to pay attention and build your character up before you get into the main story line, and for good reason. If you are short tempered or lacking in patient then I doubt that this game is for you. There is no ‘God Mode’, you play by your own skills.
I am an older player of 62 YO and have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying this game, a great way to blow of some stress and I actually get a feeling of accomplishment.
Beautiful graphics, story line is a bit weak, and some ‘copy and paste’ locations once in a while but not that many. This game can be demanding on your system. Having a good time with this one, I have the PC version. I was hyped for this game since they first announced it years ago. It looked like it would be fantastic. I played through it, and reached the max level very quickly, then hit the grind of trying to gear up.
The leveling experience is great, the story is solid and interesting. But once you’ve done it all, there isn’t a lot of reason to continue playing. The Dark Zone, where difficult enemies drop higher quality gear, but where any other player can attack you and take that gear from you, is exciting and fun, but cheaters run rampant, and it ruins the fun. When you do get the random high end gear that you were searching for, there is a very small chance of getting it with best stats it can have, or even the stats that you want.
Out of the hundreds of High End items I’ve made or found, only a handful were even worth using, and even they weren’t as good as they could be. This game was so close to hitting the mark, but missed due to the RNG of successfully gearing yourself in the end-game. One person found this helpful. I have wi fi and the download failed after 5 hours because it took over 10 hours to download.
I have to start all over and I still cannot play this game. Also the idiotic game page is nothing but a cash magnet Pros: This game got its hooks in me pretty quickly and I have been playing steady since I bought it. The progression and loot system leave room for a lot of replayability and good endgame content.
Many are jumping ship but it looks like Massive is beginning to communicate outward and take action against some of these problems. I enjoy the base functionality of the game enough to ride it out. I am still confident things will improve and am anxious to see future content. So far playing with friends has been very fun.
Leveling up to 30 is one of the best experiences I’ve had in gaming in quite some time. The city-world is truly amazing; I often wander around just looking at the world they’ve created, in fact. I play single-player – I’m an adult over 40 with a lot of responsibility, so I can’t sink a lot of time into any particular game, and I don’t have friends who game. There’s not much out there for me beyond level 30, as the Dark Zone is not worth my time with so many uber-geared rogues.
For those who do play the Dark Zone a lot and have min-maxed gear, I understand their frustrations, too, and am glad to see Massive really starting to work on a bunch of issues. The PTS server is encouraging. I’m sticking with the game to see what happens next! See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. If your’re into modern shooters with a Pure addiction.
If your’re into modern shooters with a heavy dose of an R. Report abuse. Like other Ubisoft titles, this one is well crafted.
The single player has enough interesting scenes to keep you occupied for hours. It does have a few quirks, don’t they all, but, overall a decent game.
